Jimmie Drummond

Drummond Projects

My business journey has been defined by persistence, vision, and a deep commitment to serving the community. What began as a small, purpose-driven venture has grown into a dynamic inter-disciplinary design studio that bridges innovation, strategy, and social impact. Throughout this process, I’ve remained focused on building meaningful relationships and fostering solutions that uplift others—especially within communities that are often underrepresented and stories that deserve a unique design voice. This dedication has not only shaped the identity of my business but has also positioned me as a design professional who delivers value with integrity, purpose, and long-term impact.

Our journey as a Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) has opened doors and encouraged collaborations. It created opportunities to partner with other agencies, BIDs, and local organizations who were actively looking to work with DC-based, values-driven firms like ours.

We are especially grateful for the leadership of Mayor Bowser and the city’s unwavering commitment to empowering small businesses. Our story is proof of what becomes possible when a city believes and invests in its businesses, and when businesses, in turn, pour back into their communities. We are honored to be part of Washington, DC’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and excited to help shape the next chapter of growth and innovation in our great city and beyond.

This year, FOXXSTEM experienced tremendous growth welcoming eight new team members to our growing company. This growth is made possible by the partnership and trust of District government. Every project we deliver is rooted in our mission: “Building People, Elevating Communities, and Engineering Solutions.”

For the past five years, the Green Book has highlighted the Construction & Facilities Maintenance category as the largest spending area in the District’s budget. This continued investment creates significant opportunities for firms like FOXXSTEM to grow, deliver critical government projects and programs, and strengthen DC’s economy! We are energized by this momentum. We are grateful to be entrusted with the delivery of large-scale infrastructures in the District for our clients including the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), the District Department of General Services (DGS), DC Water, Pepco, an Exelon Company, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA). Through this guide, we deepened our engagement with agencies such as the Department of Health Care Finance, the Public Service Commission, and the prime contractors and public-sector partners whose work anchors key District programs. This strategic prominence transformed early opportunity identification into past performance, and that past performance into expanded reach and new awards across procurement solutions and upskilling, healthcare initiatives, training engagements, and conferences and event management.

Equally transformative has been Department of Small and Local Business Development’s (DSLBD) one-on-one support and advocacy. Their responsiveness, insight, and strategic guidance not only widened our pipeline but also helped us reach more aligned agencies while deepening our contributions to existing clients. DSLBD consistently brought forward emerging opportunities and ongoing District initiatives that MMI could meaningfully support. Events such as District Connect, combined with the intelligence within the Green Book, have amplified our engagement, strengthened our positioning, and expanded our opportunity pool in tangible, measurable ways. As a committed CBE, MMI views DSLBD and the Green Book not merely as resources, but as true catalysts for growth, partnership, and meaningful economic opportunity across the District of Columbia.
